A very tough draw for the Yachtsmen in the Extra Preliminary Round of the EMIRATES FA Cup as they were given a visit to Blackfield & Langley. Once again problems with the ferries meant a fifteen minute delay to the scheduled kick off time.

The home side got off to the start they wanted as they took a sixth minute lead when FLAVIO TAVAREZ put them ahead from close range after just six minutes. The same player caused the Cowes defence more problems three minutes later but his ball across the face of the goal did not find a teammate on hand to tap home. Jimmy Wykes received a through ball chested it down in the box but was challenged before able to get a shot away on 14 minutes. A foul on Dominic Sexton in the 18th minute gave Jez Conway the chance from 22 yards but his free kick sailed well over the bar. Another Blackfield attack a minute later saw Callum Pye-Poulter do well to stop but FLAVIO TAVARES was on hand to fire the loose ball past Ed Hatt to double the home sides advantage. The Blackfield striker should have completed ahis hat trick on the half hour mark but a poor touch allowed Ed Hatt the chance to clear for a corner. Aedan Coode played in Jimmy Wykes on 33 minutes but the home keeper blocked the shot with his chest before the ball was cleared. Just before the break a third goal was added by FATAH MAKHLOUFI to send the home side comfortably ahead at half time. H-t 3 – 0

Again the Yachtsmen responded at the start of the second half  as Conor White sent the ball across the face of goal but Ji Nash saw his effort pushed away for a corner in the 47th minute. Any hopes of a comeback for the Islanders were soon dashed as FLAVIO TAVARES completed his hat trick despite Ed Hatt getting his hands to the shot. Ed Hatt then superbly tipped a shot over the bar before he denied Flavio Tavares a fourth goal with another good save. Seventeen year old Adam Voller replaced Conor White before Scott McFarlane and Mitchell Ricketts came on for Jimmy Wykes and Callum Pye-Poulter respectively. A big chance for the Yachtsmen in the 71st minute as Scott McFarlane played in Ji Nash who with their keeper on the ground sent the ball high over the crossbar. In the 66th minute DOMENICO PANESAR-DOWER sent a piledriver of a shot past the un moved Ed Hatt from 25 yards. A little bit of joy for the Yachtsmen in the 69th minute when JI NASH clipped the ball over the keeper into the net for a consolation goal. but it as Blackfield & Langley who progressed to the next round and another home game against AFC PORTCHESTER which I am sure will be a very interesting game to watch.
