MATCH OFFICIALS: Referee – BRIAN WHITE Assistants – Martin Warden + Mark Winnock

Our final league game of this long hard season saw us make the long trip to Shaftesbury, but the team and Management were all in good spirits.

Looking to get off to a good start the Yachtsmen did just the opposite as they fell behind in just the third minute. Ed Hatt having made a great one handed save at the expense of a corner was helpless as NICHOLAS HEWLETT headed home the corner from 6 yards. The Cowes stopper was again forced into a great save in the 25th minute to prevent a second home goal. The Yachtsmen were then forced into a change as Conor White replaced the injured Charlie Allen on 34 minutes. Shortly after and the home side doubled their advantage when we ended up conceding possession near the half way line, Jack Mitchell saw his shot cannon back off the post, but MARTIN SCHROEDER was on hand to ram the rebound back into the net. The visitors finally showed their talents when a great ball into the area by Finnley Phillips was just behind three Cowes players, Gareth Bricknell retrieved before laying the ball back to the edge of the box where Jack Broomfield fired over the bar.

H-t 2 – 0

With Cowes expecting things to get better, that certainly did not happen as Ewan Cranwell concede a penalty a quarter of an hour in from which BRANDON MUNDAY netted a third goal for Shaftesbury thus all but killing the game as a contest. Cowes Sports did manage a consolation gosl in injury time when Gareth Bricknell set up Callum Watkins whose shot deflected in to the goal off CRAIG INSLEY for his first of the season.
