Match Report – Team Solent v Cowes Sports 16-02-19

Attendance –

The Yachtsmen dominated the first half and were rewarded after 22 minutes with the opening goal. Gareth Bricknell whipped in a right wing corner and the ball fell to CALLUM CHASE, who slotted home from close range.
Despite their dominance Team Solent were unable to get past Ed Hatt, who made three good saves to keep his side ahead at the break.
The home side had the better of the second half, but their keeper kept them in the game, by first tipping a Gareth Bricknell goal-bound free-kick around the post and then making a point-blank save from Aedan Coode after the Cowes youngster’s initial shot was blocked.
Ten minutes from time Team Solent snatched an equaliser when the Cowes defence failed to clear their lines and then, as the game went into added time another goalmouth scramble ended with the ball being forced over the line for a late winner.
There was still time for more drama as Team Solent kept the ball safely in the corner and in the tussle, substitute Connor Furmidge received a straight red card for kicking out at an opponent.
