Match Report: Bracknell Town 3 v 0 Cowes Sports

This FA Cup Extra Preliminary round tie on Helleric Premier League side Bracknell Town’s 4G pitch started badly for the Yachtsmen as the unfortunate Ewan Cranwell conceded an own goal after 23 seconds, but we shrugged off the disappointment and for the rest of the half, looked the better side.

A slick passing move ended with a George Turner effort that went just wide, then another great passage of play gave Connor Furmidge a chance which was deflected for a corner.

More fine attacking football created a second chance for George Turner, but he lost control at the crucial time and as we piled on the pressure, Connor’s shot was gathered by the Bracknell keeper.

The 4G pitch had been made greasy by heavy showers before the game and at half time and this contributed to Bracknell’s second goal as they punished a defender’s slip inside the box.

The pace of the game was beginning to tell as we started to fire and Bracknell ran in another goal to emphasise their second half dominance.

So the Wembley dream is over for another season but the lads were far from being disgraced, especially in the first half.
