Match Report – Christchurch v Cowes Sports

Attendance – 57

Another away game for the Yachtsmen again saw them head towards Dorset as they visited Christchurch in search of that elusive victory.

Ashley Brett returned after a couple of weeks being unavailable in place of the injured Connor Furmidge whilst all change on the bench. Aedan Coode, Aiden White and Samuel Kirby replacing Jacob Jarvis, Michael McEnery and Aarun Ince.

As I was unable to travel to this game the report is taken from the twitter/Facebook tweets that were done throughout the game so a little less detail was available.

A very damp day led to a greasy pitch but with 17 minutes on the clock a Cowes corner was only cleared too CHARLIE ALLEN who shot from eighteen yards beat the home keeper and nestle in the back of the Christchurch goal to give the Island side the lead. Jack Broomfield picked up a yellow card as Cowes played some nice one and two touch football. Some strong challenges were being made by both sides on a very wet pitch but neither side could fashion out that golden opportunity to score as the half progressed. The Islanders remained one up at the break.

Early second half pressure from Cowes came too nothing before Cowes were forced into a change as Samuel Kirby replaced Conor White who had picked up a hamstring injury. The home side them managed to create their best chance of the game from which they equalised. Another blow for the Yachtsmen as Aidan Bryan was replaced by Aedan Coode. Although the game seemed to be end to end neither side looked capable of forcing the victory and was not pretty to watch but the score remained level and the points were shared, which really does neither side any favours.
