The latest league fixture saw Hamble Club travel to the Island, but those eager to see the return of former Player/Manager John McKie were disappointed as injury ruled him out of the game.

Only two changes for the Yachtsmen with skipper Gareth Bricknell returning after suspension and Fin Phillips coming into the starting line up in place of Ewan Cranwell and the suspended Michael McEnery while Ben Snow was named on the bench following his three match ban.

Team:-

The early action saw Jake Newton’s powerful shot hit Ashley Brett on the head before going out for a throw on the far side of the pitch, Ashley needing treatment. Hamble’s Ricky Bull was then yellow carded for a foul on James Wykes. Cowes had a couple of half chances as first Jez Conway sent a shot wide of their right hand post then Gareth Bricknell sent his effort past the left hand post. Fin Phillips then sent a cross shot wide of the right post. Charlie Wagstaffe sent a shot towards the Cowes goal that Ed Hatt pushed away for a corner from which JAKE NEWTON sent a bullet header past Ed Hatt into the net to give the visitors the lead. on the half hour mark Gareth Bricknell’s corner was headed over by Ashley Brett before a couple of minutes before the break another chance went a begging for the home side when James Wykes sent the ball wide of goal after their keeper had gifted him with the chance.

Ten minutes into the second half and a Conor White cross was headed straight at Rory Anderson by Ashley Brett. The Yachtsmen’s best chance came in the 77th minute when a free kick from inside the Cowes half was sent towards the back post, Ashley Brett headed back into the danger area for Gareth Bricknell to volley goalwards. However the ball hit keeper Rory Anderson in the face and flew over the bar. The points were secure in the 93rd minute when SAM NDLOVU smashed the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle having cut in from the right.
