Sixteen year old Jamie White, Connor Furmidge and Morgan Perrin came into the starting line up with Alex Wright being joined on the bench by Dominic Sexton, Max Coshell and new signing 16 year old Jimmy Mumford, eldest son of former player and Reserve team Manager Stephen Mumford.

Another competitive match, the same as the league encounter ten days earlier was expected by all. Just three minutes in and the visitors were claiming a penalty when their number seven was sandwiched in the Cowes box but Referee Liam White waved play on. A quarter of an hour in and a Brockenhurst free kick was bent round the Cowes wall but cannoned to safety off the foot of Ed Hatt’s left hand post before another effort flew over the crossbar as the visitors made the better start to the game. On twenty six minutes the home side finally mounted a threat to the badgers goal and really should have taken the lead when a neta lay off by Jared Wetherick into the path of Connor Furmidge saw the latter’s shot pushed away for a corner by their keeper. on 33 minutes the visitors nearly took the lead when Ronan Moore sliding in on the left just failed to make contact with the ball that had been flicked on from a corner. Just before the break Lewis Wright watched a his shot was pushed over the bar by the visitng number 1. The first period ended with the teams still level and the game goalless.
H-t 0 – 0
At the start of the seconf half Cowes Sports brought on 16 year old Jimmy Mumford in place of Connor Furmidge, but once agaoin it was Brockenhurst that were pressing. Young Jamie White was replaced by Dominic Sexton for the Yachtsmen on 52 minutes. The baest chance of the game on 54 minutes fell to the visitors when afirst shot hit the upright beforer therebound was cleard off the line by owes. In the 59th minute a through ball had James Wykes racing towards goal but his shot sailed well over the bar. Alex Wright came on for Morgan Perrin in the 61st minute before on 65 minutes skipper Callum Chase fed substitute Alex Wright whose shot had their keeper stretching to push over the bar. Dominic Sexton fired over the bar before a couple of Jimmy mumford shot flew past the post. Callum Chase was yellow carded six minutes from time before Brockenhurst number 10 was sent to the sin bin for something he said, in leaving the pich he sarcastically clapped the Referee so was therefore shown a second yellow and was sent off as the match itself finished goalless and penalties would be used to decide who would progress.
Brock’ netted before Aarun Burford saw his spot kick saved, 2 – 0 to the visitors after they scored. Lewis Wright’s kick was also saved. 3 – 0 became 3 – 1 , Alex Wright netting for the Yachtsmen, before number 11 from Brock blasted well over the bar to give the Islanders hope. Jez Conway netted for 3 – 2 but visiting keeper netted the winning spot kick and send the Badgers throught o a home tie against Ringwood Town
Disappontment for the home side but another excellent defensive showing and with a couple more signings in the pipeline moral is high.
