COWES SPORTS RESERVES  2  v  1  BRADING TOWN

The first match back for Mark Randall’s side saw them entertain Brading Town who were in third spot when the League fixtures were halted in December, so a tough match was expected.

Ashley brett had the first chance of the game when he headed a 5th minute corner into the side netting at the back post. On 13 minutes the home side took the lead when FINLEY PHILLIPS clipped the ball over the Brading keeper into the net. Brading responded well and Ollie Wilson fired wide from distance. Ten minutesd before the break and Cowes doubled their advantage when they pressed in midfield and SCOTT McFARLANE won possession before rounding their keeper to net from 10 yards. Four minutes before the break Brading were awarded a free kick 22 yards from goal to the left of the “D”. Whilst Ed Hatt was arranging his defensive wall OLIVER WILSON’s quick thinking sought permission to take a quick free kick which was granted and he struck the ball into the unguarded left corner of the Cowes goal to halve the Yachtsmen’s lead.

The second half was keenly fought by both sides with Brading having the lion’s share of possession but neither side could find a way through to the others goal so Cowes held on to their one goal advantage to take the three points.

WHITECROFT & BARTON SPORTS  1  v  0  COWES SPORTS RESERVES

A trip to current Champions W & B Sports was next on the journey for their first midweek fixture.

Despite several changes Cowes put up a brave fight against a strong side who dominated the game throughout but following a injury to keeper Ed Hatt the home side finally broke the deadlock around ten minutes from time when JOE CRAIG headed home what provide to be the only goal of the game. Unfortunate for the Yachtsmen as a fit Ed Hatt would surely have saved the effort.

COWES SPORTS RESERVES  0  v  3  WHITECROFT & BARTON SPORTS

Cowes Sports played W & B Sports at Westwood Park just four days after a narrow 0 – 1 defeat at Sandy Lane.

An early Fin Phillips free kick was headed over the bar by Ash Brett for the home side, but it was the visitors that found the back of the net first on 19 minutes when a cross from the Cowes right back area saw FREDDY KNOWLES rise highest to head past Ed Hatt in the Cowes goal. Cowes battled hard to find a way back into the game and came close on 36 minutes when Scott McFarlane saw his shot parried away by Gareth True in the visitors goal. True again kept his side ahead in the 40th minute when he tipped Morgan Perrin’s goalbound effort over the bar for a corner before George Holmes fired over the bar just before half time.

Six minutes into the second half and JOSH APPELL ran at the Cowes defence who backed off allowing himeto fire past Ed Hatt into the left corner of the net to double the lead. Once again as Cowes pushed forward it was Gareth True who kept them at bay. First he away a Max Coshell shot before sub Connor Furmidge saw his shot superbly tipped past the post for a corner. fourteen minutes from time the result was put beyond Cowes when an Aiden Sainsbury free kick was spilled by Ed Hatt and substitute CHARLIE URRY was first to react to net a third goal for W & B. Cowes then saw Scott McFarlane’s shot again pushed around the post by Gareth True.
